Ministry Trip to Puerto Rico (First Few Days)
The Lord has already been on the move as we have been in Puerto Rico. This past Friday, my friend Azaryah and I came to Puerto Rico to minister at a church, visit family, and minister at a retreat! We have had the opportunity to visit El Yunque, swim in the beach, play music, explore old town San Juan, and more things. We had the privilege, while we were working with the church our first 3 days in Puerto Rico, of staying with a wonderful family who love the Lord. Now we are in Corozal, my mother’s hometown, with my uncle’s family. It is so good to be with my family and I know that the Lord has something in store for them, already this morning as I was praying and praising God the Lord let me see that there were angels all over the garage where I was praying! I am excited to see all that the Lord will do! I want to focus on some of the highlights of the trip so far and also let you know how you can be praying for us.
Milagro de Amor
The church that I am co-laboring with in Puerto Rico, Iglesia Bautista Bethel, holds a special miracle service about once a month called, Milagro de Amor (Miracle of Love). Throughout the years of holding this service God has done mighty miracles and they have witnessed people being healed of cancer, even one testimony that I can remember, a person being raised from the dead. Azaryah and I joined the worship team with our instruments and experienced the power of God moving through the music. At one point during the service a lady came up to me and testified about a miracle of healing that she had experienced back in the summer of 2010 when Jon Shinkle and I prayed for her. Here is the testimony that we wrote from our experience that year and she testified that she has been well since that day, “One had intense spasms in both of her shoulders and she said she felt like she had heavy blocks on her shoulders; but when we prayed, the Lord completely healed her and took all the pain away! Praise God! She said she felt like she had been completely renewed, and the next day she told us she was able to sleep that night with no pain or discomfort!” Testimonies are always so exciting! God is worthy of recognition, remembrance and praise!
Visiting San Juan
When we visited San Juan in the afternoon I was longing to play some music there on my violin to release the sounds of heaven that shift the atmosphere and usher in the blessing of God, as well as to enjoy the time of playing music! Because we would be walking around for a while I decided against carrying my violin all over San Juan and at times regretted the decision when I saw great spots to play music. I had a great time hanging out with friends, from Puerto Rico, some newly met. Finally at the end of the night around 9pm we went back to the cars where I would meet my cousin to come to Corozal. I decided then that I could play some music briefly before we left so I grabbed my violin and when I found a quite place that did not have other music I decided I would play there. Suddenly I began to hear young people singing and playing the guitar. It sounded like worship to me! And it was!!! They joyously invited me to join them when they saw me carrying an instrument and I gladly joined them!!! It was such a powerful time and I got to do what I was longing to do, worship Jesus with my violin and release the sounds of heaven!!!
Now I am in Corozal with my family and I am expecting great things! Lord move mightily and touch my family with Your Love, fill them with Hope in You!
Prayer Points for This Time of Ministry in Puerto Rico
On the plane to Puerto Rico the Lord said to me, “Watch and see what I will do”. This message from the Lord encouraged me greatly and produced worship in my heart! I believe that part of this message that God gave me is an exhortation for me to Watch which in the scriptures often has to do with prayer and waiting upon the Lord. I want to invite you into this Watch for Puerto Rico.
The things that I believe that God has assigned us to reap in Puerto Rico as well as to labor (Watch) for is: Awakening, Healing, and Deliverance. God has sent us to reap that which we have not sown and to sow that others may reap (John 4:38). Awakening – People’s hearts returning to the Lord, to seek Him with all that they are! This happens as the Word of God runs swiftly and is glorified. Healing – I believe that God wants to heal physical bodies and produce joy and rejoicing in the hearts of His people as He reveals His Power and Love! Deliverance – I believe that God wants to set people free from every weight: depression, loneliness, negative mindsets, belief that God is disappointed with us, not trusting in His love for us or others, and more. And to set people free from the sin that easily entangles: addictions, sexual immorality, bitterness and more.
Spiritual Breakthroughs to pray into:
- Awakening (Pray: 2 Thessalonians 3:1, Colossians 4:3-4, Romans 10:17)
- Healing (Pray: Isaiah 53, Mark 16:15-18, Matthew 8:3)
- Deliverance (Pray: Isaiah 61, Psalm 139:23-24, Romans 12:1-2)
Events to pray for: I will be in Puerto Rico for another week and will be ministering to youth on Wednesday night, preaching at the retreat as well as ministering through the violin, and then on Sunday not sure what it will look like.
Other things to pray for:
- That the Lord will protect us spiritually and physically, and give us strength and peace as we travel and minister (Psalm 91)
- For the “Greater Works” (John 14:12)
- That the Lord will bless my family with His touch (Joshua 24:15, Hebrews 1:14)
- That the Lord will touch hearts and will transform lives (John 3)
- That God would give me the words to speak when I preach, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the ease to express in Spanish what the Lord shares with me! (Pray: 2 Thessalonians 3:1, Colossians 4:3-4, Romans 10:17)
- That the believers we come in contact with through ministry or divine appointments will be encouraged in their faith and empowered to live in greater surrender before the Lord! (Ephesians 4:29)
